Fondant Cake Woes

I  started making fondant cakes around 8 years ago. Our first cake was made of fondant from Wilton which costed around PHP600. Ouch. So my profit for that cake was just ~PHP200. Super ouch. I could not offer fondant cakes then because it felt like the profit was too small, which does not compensate all the efforts of making the cake. Furthermore, I still had a lot of errors. For example, somebody ordered transformers cupcakes. I did 50 pcs the night before pick up, then the following morning, all the cupcake toppers looked like melted candles. I had to rush doing another set of toppers before pick up time.  I also experienced making a 3D ribbon topper using fondant and ended up with a flat one. It felt awful seeing the results. So I decided to attend a workshop in Manila. The workshop fee was PHP3,500, plus transportation and food costs of ~PHP1,500.
